Automobili Pininfarina today announces that the name of the first car in its luxury electric vehicle portfolio will be the Battista. Named after Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina, the founder of the Carrozzeria Pininfarina coachbuilding company that he started in 1930, the all-electric hypercar will be designed and hand-built in very limited numbers at Pininfarina SpA. In aiming to be the world’s first fully-electric luxury hypercar the car has extreme levels of technology and functional design.

The launch is scheduled for 2020, and the cars will not be more than 150 in total at the price of about 2 million dollars. Rimac will supply the electric engine and the car batteries. Automobili Pininfarina has announced its plans to release three crossover/SUV models in the nearest future. The strongest of the three – called the Pininfarina PF1 – will get an all-electric drivetrain.
