The Saic Design Challenge has finished. The 19 fantastic concept models showed the innovative ideas and imaginations of the student’s from global top design colleges. The models also appealed the images of Roewe’s advanced technology of good taste, and Mg ‘s emotional fashion and young dynamism.

The competition theme was named ‘Born Electrical’ this year. The candidates were free to choose one of the design tasks——an EV platform based electric luxury vehicle as the new flagship for the Roewe brand in 2025, or a high performance electric vehicle (not racing car) for the Mg brand in 2025. The candidates were asked to design their own cars of 2025 transportation basing on their understanding and judgment of future automotive design trends.

Launched on March 24th, the Saic Design Challenge received more than 400 pieces of design works from over 100 universities and institutes all around the world. The committee of the competition was composed of the Saic professional designers and a group of well-known crossover design experts from home and abroad.

For China the first prize winner was Jiang Zhenyu from Hunan University. The second prize winners were Tan Renjie from LuXun Academy of Fine Arts, and Zhao Tangyin from Jiangsu University. The first prize winner of European session was Trym Abrahamsen from Strate Ecole de Design in France.
