The next-generation Opel Mokka built on the Psa Group’s CMP platform anticipates the style of the German manufacturer’s new models from 2020 onwards. Mark Adams, Opel Design Vice President and his team have developed a design philosophy that combines clarity and expressiveness. The Mokka is the first model to show the new face of the German brand. The design team has created a new face called the Opel Vizor, comparable to a full-face helmet with protective visor that organically integrates the grille, headlights and brand logo into a single module: the new Opel face. “It was crucial for us to create a new face for the brand with a bold and pure style of future Opel design. The new Vizor lends the models a distinctive character, while remaining tied to its German roots in terms of form at the service of function,” says Mark Adams.

The revolution also involves the interior. The driver now displays a Pure Panel, a fully digital high-tech dashboard. “On the new Mokka, the Pure Panel makes its debut. The two large displays, perfectly integrated in a horizontal format, with a minimum number of physical checks and clear, clean digital information, together create an optimised customer experience,” said Adams.

The Opel Pure Panel, with stretched screens, makes a multitude of physical buttons unnecessary. It provides the latest digital technologies and the most important information for the driver, such as the management of energy stored in the Mokka’s battery in an electric version and many other functions. The idea made its debut on the 2018 GT X Experimental concept.
