\u201cBeing original and standing out from the crowd is our motto; in the present case, however, diversity is not so much stylistic as conceptual and functional.

\nin a limited timescale\u201d, says Leonardo Fioravanti, describing the Skill project presented at the last Geneva Show. We are talking about a \u201cfun pick-up spider\u201d based on the formal, functional transformation of Fiat\u2019s segment C car.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe choice of the pick-up formula\u201d, he continues, \u201cappeared the most suitable to a young, dynamic lifestyle which often demands the transport of bikes, mountain equipment, minibikes, quads, surfboards, airboards and gokarts\u201d. Everything is emphasised by the removable hard-top which offers even
\nmore freedom, and the two-seater cabin, which does, however, also provide two rearward facing seats in the load tub.<\/p>\n

The Grande Punto based 4 seater coup\u00e9-spider has also been developed with affordability in mind, and a future in the marketplace. \u201cAs on the pick-up\u201d, explains Fioravanti, \u201cthe roof mechanism involves a rotational movement but there are other elements too. When you press the button, in 20 seconds
\nthe roof slides under the boot, taking up very little space, then the screen and side sections rotate downwards.<\/p>\n

The screen rests against the area behind the seats, whereas the two side sections and their respective linkages slot into the side panels. The car thus takes on the appearance of an authentic barchetta, but with a four-seater
\ncabin, a boot holding fully 700 litres and well-centred weight distribution\u201d.<\/p>\n
