At Salon Priv\u00e9, at Blenheim Palace, Touring Superleggera presents the world premiere of Touring Aero 3, the latest addition to the Milanese coachbuilder, whose lines are inspired by the cars that made history from the roaring 1930s to the 1950s. The Touring bodywork was the first to use the wind tunnel to study aerodynamics and “wind profiling” became synonymous with tapered bodies made for various manufacturers, cars that excelled in competition throughout Europe, giving rise to a solid reputation that combines aerodynamic efficiency, speed and style.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The Aero 3, based on a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, is a custom-built car inspired by the sporting luxury of the golden age of Italian coachbuilding. The tapered bodywork highlights the cleanliness of the surfaces and the integration of the volumes in a monolithic block. Lightweight sections that caress the chassis in well-defined curves, giving it dynamism and power. The important, sculpted and muscular bonnet anticipates and tickles the imagination, promising exceptional performance. The rear fin brings back the “wind profiling” designed by Touring Superleggera, a detail that becomes a distinguishing feature of the current design, a concession to the Touring Superleggera lineage that blends into the whole.<\/p>\n<\/div>

“The fin was born as a natural extension and extremisation of the teardrop shape of the cockpit,” comments Louis de Fabribeckers, head of the Style Centre. “It is evocative of the first aerodynamic studies carried out by Touring since the 1930s, although it does not have an aerodynamic function in itself”. Once again the Touring Superleggera character is not given by the respect of a formal language, but by the balance of proportions. The exterior of Touring Aero 3 is in the colour of DV #1: Stratosphere Red.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The strong personality of the exterior is mitigated inside the cabin, where red underlines some details while black plays with matt carbon and glossy and matt black aluminium.\u00a0 The cockpit design reinforces the enveloping effect typical of sports cars, Foglizzo leather and characteristic workmanship accentuate the feeling of comfort and the mix of matt carbon inserts in the door panels underline its sportiness. Aluminium, the main material of Touring creations, is highlighted with touches in glossy and matt black that highlight precious details of the interior.<\/p>\n<\/div>
