Genesis, the Hyundai Group’s premium brand, unveiled the X Speedium Coupe at Genesis House, a cultural space located in the heart of the Big Apple’s Meatpacking District. The concept car incorporates the Genesis DNA (Bold, Progressive, Distinctly Korean), while anticipating the brand’s next generation of electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The Genesis X Speedium Coupe was born from a “freestyle” design exercise based on the Genesis X Concept led by Luc Donckerwolke, Genesis Chief Creative Officer. The name Speedium was inspired by the passion for motorsports felt by Genesis designers after a track experience. The name also encapsulates Genesis’ belief that the emotional value of driving will remain strong in the age of electrification.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

“This car shows Genesis’ journey towards our styling future for in the world of electric cars,” says Luc Donckerwolke. “This is not a show car – it is a glimpse into our future plans.” At the front, the Two Lines lights, now a Genesis styling signature, have evolved into a full-width element. From an overhead perspective, the hourglass silhouette highlights the car’s passion and character. The sinuous, sensuous shape accentuates the wheel arches, creating a muscular presence.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Viewed from the side, the parabolic line that extends from the front to the rear of the car maintains a certain tension in the design as a car with rather classic proportions would. The design culminates in an aerodynamic look that exudes an understated elegance. The elliptical-shaped tail balances the look for a visually engaging tension between convex and concave surfaces at the rear.
