Aero in China, Volkswagen offers a sneak preview of the brand’s first all-electric saloon. The future production model, based on the MEB platform, will be part of the upper saloon segment. The electric sedan will be produced for Europe at the Volkswagen plant in Emden, Germany, and the series version is scheduled to debut in 2023. The design of the ID. Aero applies the design language of the ID. family for the first time to a saloon in the upper segment. The aerodynamically designed front and roof sections allow the wind to flow optimally. The slightly retracted rear end with a lip spoiler guides the airflow. The sporty 22-inch two-tone wheels are designed in the style of a turbine and integrated flush into the wheel arches. The classic door handles are replaced by illuminated tactile surfaces that further reduce aerodynamic drag.

<a href="https://autodesignmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/2022062802_Volkswagen_AeroB.jpg" class="fusion-lightbox" data-rel="iLightbox[5bbc171b8da36ee3b6e]" data-caption="Design sketches offer a first impression of the ID.
