Geely Design Global has found a new home in the heart of Gothenburg, Sweden. What looks like a huge black box from the outside will from next September host hundreds of international designers who will lend their skills and talents to define the next generation cars of the group, which also owns Volvo, Lotus and Lynk & Co. among others.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The minimalist building is part of Geely’s Uni3 campus, a group of buildings located within the Lindholmen Science Park in Gothenburg. The designers who will work in the new five-storey building will be able to work on several brands under one roof, but initially they will reportedly develop vehicle designs for Lynk & Co and Zeekr. Inside the building is a huge open space to encourage design teams to work together.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Geely’s design unit in Gothenburg has around 550 people working in different disciplines, from exterior and interior design, physical and digital modelling, colour, materials and finishes (CMF) to human-machine interaction. A large section dedicated to virtual reality has also been created. “Since the acquisition of Volvo Cars in 2010, Gothenburg has benefited greatly from the emergence of new brands and activities belonging to the Geely family, transforming the city itself into a hub of innovation.
