“A completely new product on the electric car scene. A fresh, elegant and refined model that combines practicality and style”. This is how Oleg Son, Chief Designer of MG, describes the MG4, the latest zero-emission model presented by the Chinese manufacturer of the Saic group. With a length of 4.28 metres, a width of 1.83 metres, a height of 1.50 metres and a wheelbase of 2.70 metres, the MG4 is the first model based on the new MSP platform, which is modular and dedicated exclusively to zero-emission models and on which other cars in all segments will be built: “SUVs, sedans, crossovers and even sports cars. Thanks to this platform we have maximum freedom of expression,” says Oleg Son.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The designers have managed to keep the ground clearance low and have a completely flat floor thanks to a rather thin (110 mm thick) and reportedly highly efficient battery pack. “When we design an MG we always try to keep the history and heritage of this sports brand in mind. The MG4 has a design that we can define as clean and fluid, while the sportiness values can be found above all in the particularly dynamic front,” Son continues. The styling of the MG4 was a collaboration between the Saic Design Centre in London, the Royal College of Art and the headquarters in Shanghai.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The MG4 has taken a new direction in terms of design compared to the brand’s models already on sale. The rear end, for example, is particularly distinctive thanks to a full-width tail light that develops into an inverted Y motif just below the last pillar. “The new headlight design allows the MG4 to be recognisable especially at night. The interior has been developed following a minimalist design: at the centre of the dashboard is the 10.25-inch floating display while the instrumentation is digital, transmitted by a 7-inch screen.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The MG4 is available with two battery packs: the 51 kWh version has a claimed range of 350 km, while the 64 kWh battery packs allow a range of 450 km.
