How can a young designer fail to be enthusiastic about a glorious marque such as Lamborghini? Designing a sports car for the raging bull brand must be one of the commonest dreams among car design students around the world, and this year the Milan Polytechnic School of Design gave twenty-three of its students the chance to realise this dream.<\/p>\n
Aggressiveness, sports character and exclusivity abounded in the school\u2019s Master\u2019s Course in Transportation Design, which was conducted in collaboration with the Volkswagen Group brand. Throughout the year, the students worked to two different briefs \u2013 one for individual students, the other for students working in pairs \u2013 both of which under the guidance of their tutors, with the assistance of Filippo Perini (Lamborghini design director) and Alessandro Salvagnin (designer from the Sant\u2019Agata Bolognese style centre).<\/p>\n
During the first half-year, the Lamborghini Next project (illustrated on these two pages) explored new interpretations of Lamborghini DNA to project the language of the brand beyond the current range to produce concepts for the near future.
\nMany of the students, especially those from abroad, drew inspiration from Italy and the city of Milan for their ideas. References used included sites of architectural and artistic interest and places dedicated to design and fashion that the students had come into contact with.<\/p>\n
