After all, like all restomods, the STL-1 was born from an experience or a memory of the past linked to a vehicle no longer in production but still capable of arousing strong emotions and that touch of nostalgia that makes everything more authentic. For this reason, it required a long and painstaking design and engineering study with the sole objective of emphasising the character and stylistic features of the original model, preserving its iconicity and using state-of-the-art solutions and high-quality finishes. In the case of the STL-1, the donor car is the &#8217;68 Fastback version, one of the most representative models of the Mustang&#8217;s identity.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div therefore completely revised and modernised America&#8217;s most famous muscle car, both aesthetically and mechanically, emphasising its strong personality and giving it an even more adventurous look. In terms of design, the first feature of the STL-1 that leaps to the eye is the lack of a roof, which has been replaced by a hand-built tubular cage tracing the lines of the Mustang Fastback. Looking through the tubes, one appreciates a very basic, yet carefully detailed interior that includes a brand new digital dashboard, a sports steering wheel, new seats and a host of small details just waiting to be discovered. It should be noted that the body of the new vehicle is made from scratch from special automotive grade steel for a stronger structure than the original, while retaining the exact greater ground clearance, provided by a completely revised underbody, complete with independent suspension, inboard brakes, a new differential and a new, performance drive shaft. In addition, aggressive all-terrain tyres wrap around a set of iconic Turbine wheels.
