Škoda Design reinterprets the concept of the 1957 1100 OHC sports model and presents the Vision GT design study: a futuristic, all-electric racing car, created in Mladá Boleslav by the team led by Oliver Stefani. Together with its ancestor, it is currently on display at the ‘Design and Transformation’ exhibition, hosted in Brussels and part of the programme in support of the current Czech Republic’s presidency of the European Union. The ‘Design and Transformation’ exhibition at the Design Museum in Brussels will be open until 8 January 2023 and some of the works can also be seen at the Prague House in Brussels, until 2 October 2022.
Just like the Škoda 1100 OHC, the Vision GT concept is an open-top race car and stands out with its red paintwork. It differs from its progenitor by being a single-seater, with the driver sitting in the middle of the vehicle. Above the futuristic carbon steering wheel, flattened at the top and bottom, is a flat bar that acts as a windscreen. Important information is projected directly onto the driver’s helmet visor, like a head-up display. The active cockpit, with a flexibly suspended seat, is designed to optimally compensate for acceleration forces.
