Volkswagen’s American subsidiary announces a design competition to define the livery of the Atlas Cross Sport R, the sports SUV. Participants will present their projects to a jury of Volkswagen designers, drivers and managers. The winning proposal will define the livery of the car before the final race. “We are continually amazed by the creativity of our customers and fans,” said Reto Brun, director of the Volkswagen Design Center in California. “Volkswagen is the car brand of the people and we are excited to see how people imagine our latest off-road car.

The winner of the competition will have the opportunity with a guest to participate in a pre-race test experience with Volkswagen. Developed in collaboration with racing veteran Tanner Foust and Baja Rhys Millen, the specially modified Atlas Cross Sport R racing car’s design includes power distribution to the wheels by a four-cylinder 2.0 engine developed by Volkswagen Motorsport for the WRC and Rallycross programmes. The winning project will be presented at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next June. The official rules and competition details are available here.
