At Brembo, the pursuit of best performance has always gone hand in hand with a focus on design and execution that never disregards styling. The new Brembo 19RCS Corsa Corta master cylinder, however, which derives from technical solutions created for the MotoGP circuit and carries forward the concept of the radial brake pump, paves the way to a new functional and aesthetic era that puts the user relationship firmly at its centre.
“We were fresh from our experience with a successful product that was unquestionably innovative and marked a break with the past, but to base ourselves on this alone was not enough. For the 19RCS Corsa Corta we wanted to take a different, innovative design path,” explains Alberto Ferrari, Brembo’s Marketing Manager. “We started from an initial study during which we interviewed a panel of users to find out what novelties they were looking for in our next product, and we identified two different needs.
The first was greater modularity. This we achieved through the addition of a selector to the upper part of the cylinder on which a cam mechanism enables the driver to adapt the position of the brake bite point to his desired riding mode, choosing from three available set-ups: Normal, Sport and Race. The second, on the other hand, regarded the desire for an aesthetically better looking product, a requirement dictated by the position of the master cylinder which is right in front of the rider’s eyes.”
This second request triggered the study for the design of the 19RCS Corsa Corta. The master cylinder was therefore developed from the point of view of functional innovation and visually. This made it possible to create a product with a strong identity and stylistic consistency – between the components of the master cylinder, and in its formal definition – able to integrate in the best possible way with the aesthetic languages expressed by the motorcycles for which it was conceived, all range-toppers, adapting elegantly and organically while keeping a strong hold on the formal and aesthetic connotation of Brembo products.
