The Istituto Europeo di Design of Turin presents IED Design Show_A Snapshot of Today, a narrative space that, moving through the many expressive languages and disciplines of design that IED nourishes with its teachings, allows the point of view and design developments of young people between 20 and 25 years of age to emerge. They read – in the midst of their training – the complexity of the contemporary and confront it through the tools of design that they acquire and at the same time experiment with. The exhibition, set up inside the historic IED premises in Turin (via San Quintino 39), will be open to the public from 13 July to 30 September, with free admission and opening hours of 10am-5pm (closures: Saturday and Sunday; 6 to 21 August 2022 included). The Aula Magna, the classrooms, the laboratories, the offices, the pose rooms on the four floors of the Institute’s headquarters will be invaded by over one hundred works by the students of all courses, selected and chosen to narrate the great creative and design ferment that the school produces on a daily basis.

Geographies of the Self, The Others, Coexistences, Feeling at Home, Creating Worlds, Distances and Inside the Absurd are the titles of the 7 thematic sections of the exhibition which, starting from the deepest exploration of the self as the point of origin of every conscious design journey, leads, through works of illustration, graphics, fashion design, photography, interior and product design, communication design and transportation design, to open glimpses of the great issues of today. “This is an event that I have been thinking about since my arrival at IED,” said Paola Zini, Director of IED Turin. “I believe that an exhibition like this can fully convey the sense of design, which has always been at the heart of the Institute’s training”.

The curatorship of the exhibition was entrusted to Benedetta Lenzi, Cultural Manager and Sara Fortunati, Director of the Circolo del Design in Turin. The exhibition design is by Marilivia Minnici, Program Manager of the Circolo del Design, with the collaboration of a collective of students from the three-year courses in Interior Design, Graphic Design and Illustration. The coordinated image is the result of the creativity of Irene Scanavacca and Patrick Ometto, students of Illustration and Graphic Design, led by Sara Maragotto, Coordinator of the Illustration course.
