Asahi Kasei has unveiled the AKXY2, a next-generation concept car that aims to anticipate the technological content of an autonomous driving car of the future. According to the statement, the concept car is equipped with value-added technologies, including the Loomia Electronic Layer, an electronic fabric that can be enriched with features that can be controlled through touch sensors inside the upholstery itself and monitor the status of passengers by measuring certain vital profiles.

The fabric also allows it to be quickly heated or cooled, is water-repellent and soft to the touch. “These issues are becoming more and more fundamental when it comes to electric vehicles. For the AKXY2, we have developed seats that can be heated quickly thanks to the functionality of the Electronic Layer fabric. The feeling of warmth transmitted to the passengers is instantaneous,’ explained Madison Maxey, founder and CEO of Loomia.
