The Volvo XC90 is reborn electric, changing its name to Volvo EX90 and marking, according to the Swedish manufacturer, the beginning of a new era that will see Volvo introduce a new zero-emission model every year. A new Scandinavian design classic created by the team led by Robin Page, the Volvo EX90 upholds the principle of form matching function. It is a versatile and elegant family car with modern proportions, equipped with cutting-edge technology in terms of computing power, connectivity and electrification to optimise safety, efficiency and aesthetics.
As anticipated by the Concept Recharge concept car unveiled in June 2021, the Volvo EX90 features an invisible safety shield enabled by the latest sensing technology, inside and out. State-of-the-art sensors, such as cameras, radar and Lidar (positioned above the windscreen in the centre of the car), are connected to the car’s high-performance central processors and Nvidia Drive platforms run software developed in-house by Volvo to create a real-time 360-degree view of the surroundings.
Inside, the invisible safety shield also takes care of the driver. Special sensors and cameras, supported by internally developed algorithms, measure gaze concentration. This technology allows the Volvo EX90 to detect when you are distracted, sleepy or inattentive, beyond what has been possible so far on board a model of the Swedish brand. Inside, the styling is minimalist: all buttons gone, the vehicle functions are managed via a vertically positioned 14.5-inch central display.
