With the Vision 357, Porsche celebrates the legendary Porsche 356: the dream of Ferry Porsche, the brand’s founder, when he envisioned a high-performance car. Over the years it has become an automotive icon, right up to the present day with the 911. Freed from the regulations that apply to production cars, the Porsche Style Centre has declined the same model into the future in a manner that is both coherent and visionary.
“We have created a very special birthday present with the Porsche Vision 357, which uses the 356 as a basis to underline the importance of our design stylistic DNA,” said Michael Mauer, Vice President Style at Porsche. “This extraordinary design study is an attempt to combine past, present and future with consistency, with proportions reminiscent of the legendary 356 and new details that anticipate perspectives for the future.”
Design has been a fundamental component of Porsche from the very beginning. Visionary studies and concept cars form the basis of the brand’s unmistakable yet innovative design. “Thinking out loud about the future is one of the main missions of our style centre. These projects are a collector of ideas that also feed into the design of tomorrow’s models,’ Mauer continues. The basis used for the Vision 357 is the 368 kW (500 hp) 718 Cayman GT4 RS.
