The time has come for a restyling for the Range Rover Velar, the British manufacturer’s luxury SUV that sits between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport. The designers led by Massimo Frascella have put their hand to the exterior design, “now even more refined”, says Frascella, and have updated the interior by adding technology with a minimalist touch. “The new Range Rover Velar is an impeccable example of our modernist design philosophy: clean, reductive and irresistibly desirable,” says Gerry McGovern, Chief Creative Officer of Jaguar Land Rover.
The Range Rover Velar paved the way for Range Rover’s reductive design philosophy, and the new grille – together with the new Pixel LED9 headlights and Signature daytime running lights – provides the signature look for the entire family. At the rear, the powerful overhang provides balance and highlights the Range Rover Velar’s impressive length. This overhang underlines the vehicle’s strong appearance, while the new low rear bumper creates a balance of proportions, concealing the exhaust tailpipes for a clean, elegant look.
The new LED tail lamps reflect this refinement with an eye-catching 3D look and super-red lighting. They are complemented by a full-width third brake light. Inside, the bold and elegant elements of the Range Rover Velar are even more reductive, thanks to extraordinary craftsmanship and new materials. The latest evolution of Pivi Pro Range Rover7 infotainment is the centrepiece; the 11.4-inch curved glass interface is ergonomically positioned higher for easier operation, with less chance of distraction and glare.
The Range Rover Velar continues to offer an alternative to leather and seats with a new design and new materials. This option combines Danish Kvadrat wool fabric with Ultrafabrics polyurethane fabric inserts, perforated in a Diamond Herringbone pattern. Inspired by tailoring fabrics, the Kvadrat wool blend is 58 per cent lighter than leather, and has a modern appearance and improved tactility that add modernity to traditional Range Rover luxury. This innovative fabric has undergone rigorous durability testing in Range Rover’s laboratories to ensure its proverbial strength for the life of the vehicle.
