During the Milan Design Week, Lexus delivered the trophies to the four winners of the Lexus Design Award, the international design competition that rewards emerging creatives. The jury composed of Paola Antonelli, Karim Rashid and Simon Humphries selected the winners from 2,068 entries representing 63 countries and geographical areas. The judging criteria were based on Lexus’ core principles for creating a prosperous society and a better future: Anticipate, Innovate, Engage and Increase Happiness.
The winning entries of the 11th Lexus Design Award continue in the tradition of addressing the issues and trends of the time with the theme “Design for a Better Tomorrow”. Fog-X by Pavels Hedström (Sweden, based in Denmark): an expandable mobile habitat that captures fog and turns it into drinking water. Printed Clay Humidifier by Liu Jiaming (China): a non-electric 3D printed humidifier made from recycled ceramic waste. Touch the Valley by Temporary Office (Singapore and Canada, US-based): a 3D contour puzzle that helps visually impaired people learn about the physical environment. Zero Bag by Kyeongho Park & Yejin Heo (Republic of Korea): a clothing packaging that dissolves in water and acts as a detergent that can remove any chemicals from clothes.
