The four projects developed by the students of the XIV Edition of the Master in Transportation & Automobile Design (TAD), promoted by Politecnico of Milano and managed by POLI.design show that it will be the users’ needs that will be the main driver in defining the characteristics of vehicles of the third millenium. In the not too distant future, pollution reduction and traffic congestion will force manufacturers to produce vehicles capable of adapting to different scenarios and to any type of route.
The concepts presented during the 2023 Graduation Day by the students of the Master divided into four groups, has as their guiding theme the following subject: «Car design in a changing world: new mobility scenatios for new needs».
The students realized the concept imagining scenarios where mobility will be more increasingly articulated and specialized and being inspired by automotive brands and not only, chosen directly by them, according to the characteristics and objectives of the project, without any direct involvement from these brands.
MISTRALETTE
Versatile and efficient full-hybrid compact vehicle, dedicated to the Citroën brand. In a hypothetical all-French co-marketing with Decathlon, it lends itself to the transport of sports equipment. It has a large open space interior. It is mainly designed for a femal clientele, with a «fresh» design, which is reflected in the choice of colours and materials, combining bright colours such as orange and green, with glossy and opaque finishing.
VANGUARD
It is an electric car dedicated to the Kia brand, to be used for work and family. It is a small professional van suitable for loading tools and instruments into the rear compartment, specially set up to accomodate 4 multi-purpose robotic trolleys. At the same time, it welcomes four people in the cockpit. It has a comprehensive digital instrumentation and uses durable and environmentally sustainable stain-resistant materials for the interior. It can also be driven with level 4 autonomous driving.
QS-SPHERE
It is a luxury SUV for six people dedicated to Audi. Embedded artificial intelligence in infotainment, it offers an experience of driving, navigation and continuos planning. along the way. It meets the needs of the occupants, providing tips during the journey. Detects if the driver is in a driving condition, otherwise it suggests a change.
VALIANT
It is a roadster for two people, with a 420 hp mid-engine and rear wheel-drive. It was born from a passion in the myth of James Bond, for this reason it is dedicated to Aston Martin. The exterior is elegant and tapered, shaped by aerodynamic lines. While the driver-oriented interior features a mini-windshield, an F1-inspired holographic display and a carbon seat. Valiant has two removable steering wheels calibrated for road and track use.
