Volvo unveils the first MPV in its history since the 1953 Duett. Not only is the new EM90 designed to be a comfortable living room on the move and a car that provides a living space to share with loved ones, but it also serves as a car that amplifies the brand’s appeal and satisfies a growing number of customer needs. The MPV segment has gained considerable popularity in recent years, especially in several parts of Asia. This is one of the main reasons why the EM90 will first be introduced in China, the world’s largest car market.

The Duett was a milestone in the Swedish manufacturer’s past and is still one of the most sought-after Volvos by collectors and enthusiasts. It was popular with families and businessmen alike in Scandinavia and the United States and over time inspired the world-famous station wagon range and was an equally important source of inspiration for the designers when they started work on the EM90.

The new MPV has all the typical MPV features: large, sliding side doors, seven independent and fully reconfigurable seats and plenty of space on board. Particular attention has been paid to materials, which are particularly important in this case since it is proposed as a luxury van. Leather, aluminium and soft materials surround the passengers while the full-length panoramic roof provides brightness to the cabin.
