Kia revealed its future Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) strategy at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas. The Korean manufacturer will introduce a new modular vehicle, anticipated by the PV5 concept. The launch of Kia’s PBV business will see the brand commit to providing a wide range of vehicle types customised to meet individual customer needs. The offensive will consist of three phases: the first will see the introduction of the Kia PV5, a versatile electric vehicle optimised for major sectors such as delivery and utilities that features multiple conversion capabilities for different customer needs. Various versions of the PV5 will be available, including Basic, Van, High Roof and Chassis Cab versions.

During phase two, the PBV ecosystem will be complemented by two additional models, the PV7 and PV1, which utilise cabinet and chassis systems to improve interaction and connectivity between vehicles based on the modular concept. PV7 is the largest product in the range, featuring more interior space, longer range and improved functionality. PV1 is the smallest vehicle in the range, optimised for agile, short-distance logistics transport, using steering modules to minimise turning radius even in tight spaces. An integrated track system on the ceiling, floor and side panels of the vehicle, as well as on the exterior, allows easy customisation of the vehicle to meet individual customer requirements.

“Kia PBVs will usher in a new era of fluid solutions for everyday business and lifestyle. We hope to make our customers’ lives simpler and better, whether they are stationary or on the move, by offering exceptional flexibility and customisation through radical modularisation,” said Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design. “With no ties to any fixed location and no limits from traditional space restrictions, Kia PBVs offer users a blank canvas on which to reimagine their lifestyle and work,” he added.
