A two-seater that defies convention, distinguished by its essentiality that recalls the timeless appeal of the classics without forgetting a strong sporting vocation. A futuristic design that combines aerodynamic forms with distinctive details inspired by motor racing. A project that collects and celebrates the legacy of the most iconic hypercar to project it into the future. It is Alisea, the new concept car created by the students of the Master in Transportation Design A.A. 2022/2023 at IED Turin in collaboration with Pagani Automobili, the result of a path that involved 24 young designers and the car manufacturer’s interlocutors for months of intense work to imagine the evolution of the Zonda, 25 years after the launch of the model that redefined the standards towards new levels of style and performance.
A page of history that today Alisea makes its own by combining Horacio Pagani’s philosophy – which has always been founded on the use of advanced technologies and the pursuit of perfection – and the style of Turin, to pay homage to both tradition and innovation in the automotive sector, in a tribute to the elegance and performance of Group C racing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The result is a car that is both analogue and technological, the fruit of careful research that results in a work created not to leave one indifferent, which takes up almost forgotten concepts to project them into the next 25 years. No decorative elements or interruptions in the surfaces: Alisea (Length: 4522 mm, Width: 2055 mm, Height: 1070 mm, Wheelbase: 2794 mm) is a single, clean and legible volume, with positive sections in any portion of the bodywork, a trend that is increasingly unheard of in this car category. The dynamic shape of the two-seater is delimited by an elliptical graphic element that ideally links the front to the rear, framing a teardrop-shaped cockpit that terminates in the iconic four circular tailpipes. The surface treatment, inspired by sculptural masterpieces of industrial design, sinuously envelops both the driver and the powerful AMG 12-cylinder mid-engine in a V-shaped arrangement.
“Alisea is the tangible expression of the talent and dedication of our students, the extraordinary result of a collective commitment and an interdisciplinary pathway that has seen the students design side by side with teachers and companies, sharing skills and visions,” says Paola Zini, Director of IED Turin. “The collaboration with an Italian excellence such as Pagani brings value to our multifaceted educational offer, constantly focused on the global context, oriented to develop a strong design culture and to foster the professional growth of young designers looking to the future with a broad and open perspective.
The close connection with the territory, the Italian cradle of the automotive industry, has made IED Turin an international excellence of training in the field of Transportation Design and Mobility that unites, through transdisciplinary approaches, the world of design with the new paradigms concerning the future of mobility. Today, the courses in this specific area – ranging from Summer School to Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, from Master’s degrees to Continuing Education – welcome 310 students, 48% of whom are foreigners, whose origins come from all over the world and make it possible to create classes with unique outlooks favoured by the encounter of different cultures and original design ideas capable of standing out.
