A new Aston Martin has arrived and its elegant and refined styling by the design team led by Marek Reichman (Vice President and Creative Director) has not disappointed enthusiasts’ expectations. The new Vanquish is the most powerful production ‘Aston’ in history and sits at the pinnacle of the brand’s front-engined sports car range. Under the bonnet beats a 5.2-litre V12 engine producing 835 horsepower and the body is made entirely of carbon fibre.
With unprecedented styling, Vanquish expresses contemporary elegance through its toned body, wide stance and flowing lines. The key to achieving such an irresistible presence is an increased wheelbase; the distance between the A-pillar and the front axle has been lengthened by +80 mm to elongate the bonnet and achieve a sleek, seductive profile. Amplifying the proportions of the front engine, the model expresses speed and power through its teardrop shape. Vanquish also draws inspiration from the British marque’s deep connection with motorsport and the design team was inspired by its most iconic models. In particular, references can be found in the elaborate yet functional details of today’s Formula One cars and the clean, flowing forms of the ultra-fast ‘Project Cars’ developed from the production models to race at Le Mans in the 1960s.
‘The Vanquish is an iconic model in our sports car portfolio and we always design beyond the imaginable, the rational and the considered. We captured the immensity of its performance and the peremptory nature of its purpose, while tempering the Vanquish’s theatricality with a rare and unmistakable sense of elegance. Our team demonstrated courage and curiosity in the pursuit of surprising design ideas,’ said Reichman. The Vanquish features a completely new front bumper, mudguards and grille. The traditional grille is standardised and the opening has been enlarged, offering a 13 per cent increase in surface area compared to the DBS 770 Ultimate to aid engine cooling. The rear is complemented by the full-width diffuser, which manages the low-pressure airflow under the car to improve high-speed stability. The Vanquish receives a newly developed stainless steel exhaust system, with unique silencer geometry and a stunning four-pipe layout.
Craftsmanship and precision are the common thread running through the interior. Specially designed as a Super GT 2+0, Vanquish’s interior is conceived to offer fulfilment to the driver, and to share this visceral experience with just one other person. The centre console has been lowered to a horizontal plane for an enhanced sense of clarity, space and luxury. The interior also uses a mix of materials to create sections with bold visible lines to enhance the feeling of luxury and quality. Regardless of the specification of the accessory package, a subtle bright chrome horizon line replaces the traditional stitching on the dashboard. The 10.25-inch, fully digital TFT driver display is designed to provide information with maximum clarity and offers customised display configurations. Similarly, the 10.25-inch screen integrated in the centre console provides a second focal point. This new screen allows the user to control all infotainment, climate and general vehicle settings.
