On the occasion of N Day 2024, a moment dedicated to the high-performance division of the Hyundai brand, the RN24, the next-generation ‘Rolling Lab’ showcasing the potential of high-performance electric vehicles of the future, was unveiled. The prototype is the latest evolution in an innovative series of experimental vehicles that bridge the gap between motorsport technology and N-series models. Originating with the RM (Racing Midship) series, the ‘Rolling Labs’ – such as the RN22e and N Vision 74 – function as a test bed for future high-performance technologies. RN24 carries on this legacy, pushing the boundaries of motorsport technology and shaping the future of electrified vehicles in the Hyundai N brand.

Inspired by a desire to pack the most powerful EV powertrain into the smallest possible package, Hyundai N applied the Ioniq 5 N’s 650-horsepower motorsport-friendly power system to a compact WRC-inspired EV chassis, resulting in a compact, lightweight and agile electric car designed for enthusiasts. The four-wheel workshop is based on the Ioniq 5 N, with a redesigned battery pack that retains the model’s 84 kWh capacity but with a 340 mm shorter wheelbase.

The use of N Performance parts, such as the Elantra N’s 19-inch matte black forged wheels, add aesthetic appeal to the vehicle and contribute to its performance. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with Hyundai Motorsport’s Touring Car Racing (TCR) model spoiler, which enhances aerodynamic performance, increasing agility and stability. RN24 also implements 3D-printed reinforcements for improved rigidity and weight reduction. This combination of innovative features defines the RN24 and Hyundai N’s approach to design, technology and performance, expanding the boundaries of electric motorsport technology.
