A historic brand well known to those who know the history of Italian motorcycling, today SWM is expanding to become the brand with which the Chinese group Shineray, to which it has belonged since 2014, arrives on the European car markets. Its range is composed of three medium-sized SUVs positioned in the most accessible price range, between 19,000 and 30,000 euros. The models that are part of it, united by shared gasoline engines and technologies, are however rather heterogeneous for look and intended use.
In order of acronyms, we start with the G01, a 4.60-meter-long SUV with a design which is not “never seen before”, but modern and slender in its lines. The front is very reminiscent of the Audi Q3, due to the shape of the headlights and the large hexagonal grille, but a variant with more accentuated sporty tones is also available, the G01F, which replaces everything with a large vertical grille connected to the bumpers.
The second model, called G03F, is actually the alternative best suited to large families and transport needs, and represents the true “entry level” in terms of price. It has a more squared appearance, with volumes developed in height and a prominent grille that houses the three letters of the brand in large characters. Overall, it brings to mind the first SUVs/off-road vehicles from the beginning of the millennium. The interiors are simple, but offer an interesting 7-seater configuration defined as 4+3, with the three-seater sofa in the last row and two single seats for the middle row.
At the top of the range is the more sophisticated G05, 4,75 meters long and also with 4+3 interiors, but a more refined line and finish in which it is not difficult to see some inspiration from BMW SUVs, especially in the optics of the headlights and in the grille with vertical bars, while inside the large vertical display built into the dashboard stands out.
