Powerful, iconic, extreme. Exclusively for Auto&Design, Lamborghini design chief Mitja Borkert created a photoshooting that combines the Essenza SC-V12 and the Temerario Alleggerita (cover story on Auto&Design no.269), underlining the stylistic continuity between the brand’s racing spirit and the latest production car unveiled by Lamborghini. Both express the same philosophy and approach that at Sant’Agata Bolognese they call ‘Feel like a pilot’. ‘ This is not just a definition of how the customer feels driving a Lamborghini. It is the clear link between sports cars and production super sports cars,’ explains Borkert. ‘With the Lamborghini Essenza SC-V12 the unique and innovative design DNA has been expanded and developed in a highly emotional way. The design of the Essenza was clearly inspired by the world of motorsport and manifested a design dedicated to 40 exclusive super sports cars for the track and highly exclusive owners. The design was therefore innovative and utilised large, combined lightweight components, such as the large ‘bonnet’ at the front and rear of the car, with integrated aerodynamic elements such as blades protruding from the wing area. Since the Essenza SC-V12 is a track-only car, the hexagonal front and rear lights were designed exclusively for track purposes, using the typical hexagonal shape for the front and rear.
The new Lamborghini Temerario Alleggerita is clearly inspired by the Essenza SC-V12: ‘The DRLs and hexagonal headlights match the Essenza’s idea. The Alleggerita Pack also uses lightweight materials in a consequential manner, such as the rear ‘bonnet’ that joins the engine bonnet and upper wings in one piece. The beautiful livery of the AdPersonam line highlights the large amount of visible carbon fibre in combination with the increased aerodynamics and performance. The livery is also inspired by that of the Essenza SC-V12.
