Volkswagen plans to present the show car of the entry-level electric model to the public at the beginning of March. The world premiere of the production version is planned for 2027. With a base price of around 20,000 euros, the new electric model will be attractive to many different customers. ‘It is an affordable, high-quality and profitable e-Volkswagen from Europe for Europe: this will be the Champions League of automotive production,’ said Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen.
Low-cost entry-level mobility in the electric age is one of the central pillars of the Volkswagen brand’s Future Plan. Together with the production version of the ID. 2all, the new electric model is part of the future family of small electric cars being developed under the umbrella of the Brand Group Core within the Volkswagen Group. It comprises 100% electrically driven compact vehicles based on the latest evolution of the Meb modular architecture. The first to debut will be the production version of the ID show car. 2all, i.e. Volkswagen’s first electric hatchback to go on sale in 2026, at a base price of less than 25,000 euros.
