On the eve of Milano Design Week, Walter de Silva unveiled Iconò, a round table designed for Stilnovo.
Here is a declaration of Decio G.R. Carugati, well-known writer and design critic.
«Architecture and proportions are essential phases in Walter Maria de Silva’s method of making. Iconò unquestionably summarizes and exemplifies this claim – it is in perfect equilibrium. Two upturned cones, with identical proportions, attract and join at the tips, where both generate the unique and inseparable shape that encompasses them… The clever colorway is delightful and reveals its soft, seductive appeal. The circular top above sits lightly, in stone, its thickness pared to a bare minimum. These are lines in the poetry of stilnovo, since 1946, alongside the light fittings and the furnishings. Now with celebrations underway for the 70th birthday of the brand, Icono’ is exemplary, a fine example of how the traditions will be carried forward».
