TAIL AESTHETICS, THE TAILGATE’S LOWERED HINGES FOR AN UNUSUAL LINE
The line flows seamlessly from the top of the front upright to the small spoiler on the tail, with only a slight bend in correspondence with that hint of a third volume that outlines an incisive coupé profile. Anyone just glancing at the silhouette of the Volkswagen Arteon and immediately noting its distance from a classic three volume, might still imagine that a small luggage compartment opens at the rear, like on the Passat CC.
One of the most spectacular surprises of the latest VW flagship, however, is hidden in the intriguing presence of a tailgate that is almost invisible when closed, but ready to be lifted in all its breadth to free up access to the 563 litres of the trunk. The solution, strongly promoted by the designers of the Arteon so as to match a functional soul with elegance, has required an unusual and refined solution: the more compact hinges, which do not protrude outward and do not affect the rear passengers. Together with the frameless side windows, it is a touch that makes Germanic precision even more evident.
