Supersporty, open top, hybrid and limited edition. Lamborghini unveils the Sian Roadster, an open-top version of the Sian presented for the first time at the Frankfurt 2019 Motor Show. The car retains the Coupé’s futuristic design but adds a new purity of form as an authentic roadster thanks to the open-top cabin designed by the design team led by Mitja Borkert. The view from above evokes the iconic periscope cut of the first Countach, which runs transversely from the cockpit to the rear, culminating in the aerodynamic conveyors behind the driver and passenger. The long, sculptural, supple lines combined with the aerodynamic wings give it a powerful and unmistakable profile.
The ultra-low front end, with integrated carbon fibre splitter, houses Lamborghini’s iconic Y-shaped light clusters. The pure, clean design clearly expresses all its technological capabilities and optimised aerodynamic efficiency: airflow is channelled through the front splitter and bonnet, through the side air intakes and outlets and above the rear spoiler, without any compromise to aerodynamic efficiency due to the open design.
The active rear cooling fins exploit a unique technology patented by Lamborghini: activation is triggered by the reaction of a series of smart materials to the temperature generated by the exhaust system, determining the rotation of the fins while offering an elegant yet lightweight cooling solution. The extreme and vigorous design of the rear of the car incorporates Lamborghini’s characteristic hexagonal pattern, like the six hexagonal tail lights inspired by the Countach. The rear wing is integrated into the profile and opens only while driving to increase performance.
