Lamborghini presents the Huracán STO, Super Trofeo Omologata, a super sports car approved for road use, inspired by the sporting tradition of the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO series developed specifically for the single-make championship by Lamborghini Squadra Corse, as well as the Huracán GT3 EVO, three times winner of the Daytona 24 Hours and twice winner of the Sebring 12 Hours. With its naturally aspirated 640-horsepower V10 engine, the rear-wheel drive Huracán STO delivers exhilarating acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 310 km/h. The exterior design of the Huracán STO, by the Style Centre directed by Mitja Borkert, has been completely revamped: the unmistakable Lamborghini profile has been reinterpreted to optimise airflow.
“Racing cars are always a source of inspiration for our design. The Huracán STO elegantly reflects the technology transfer of the Huracán racing range, as can be seen in every aesthetic detail,” says Borkert. The super sports car embodies the principle that Lamborghini design always follows function: an even more valid principle in a road-tested car inspired by a racing car. The Huracán STO is the result of collaboration between R&D, the Racing Team and the Lamborghini Style Centre: every line and every feature is both aesthetically exceptional and optimised to ensure the best driving performance. The front bonnet, mudguards and front bumper are integrated in a single element: the “Cofango”, created by Lamborghini engineers, is inspired by the Lamborghini Miura and the more recent Sesto Elemento. This design solution is not only lightweight, but also allows quick access as in racing cars.
The new air intakes on the front bonnet increase airflow through the central radiator to improve engine cooling and help generate downforce. The bonnet also includes a new front splitter that channels airflow to the completely redesigned underbody and rear diffuser. The shape of the bonnet is designed to push airflow over the two front wings, which integrate the louvers to optimise airflow out of the wheel arch, reducing pressure inside and increasing front downforce. The side profile of the bonnet channels airflow around the front wheels, reducing drag. Easy manual adjustment of the aerodynamic trim via the rear spoiler allows optimised aerodynamic balance and drag to suit track conditions A dual-profile spoiler with central duct allows the front of the profile to rotate in three positions to increase rear downforce.
The car’s interior reflects the lightweight character of the exterior; throughout the cabin, the extensive use of carbon fibre is evident: from the sports seats, made entirely of this material, to the Alcantara interior with Lamborghini CarbonSkin, to the carpet replaced by carbon fibre mats and the lightweight door panels, made entirely of carbon fibre. A tubular chassis with four-point seat belts and a newly designed front storage compartment highlight the Huracán STO’s sporting DNA. The Huracán’s touchscreen features new graphics in the Human Machine Interface (HMI) and manages car functions, including the driving mode indicator, LDVI system, tyre pressures and brake temperatures. A fully connected telemetry system allows drivers at the wheel of the car on the track to monitor and record their performance and analyse data using the Lamborghini Unica app.
