Anders Warming, former head of exterior design at BMW and now head of the independent style centre that bears his name, tells the design story of the BMW Z4 (E85 series), a model he personally oversaw during his time at the German premium manufacturer’s style centre.
Created to replace the Z3, the BMW Z4 is a soft-top spider launched by the Bavarian manufacturer in 2002 and produced in two generations until 2016. The third generation, debuting in 2018 and built in a joint venture with Toyota, shares some of its mechanicals with the Japanese Supra sports car.
