The Volkswagen ID.3 is more than just a car. “This vehicle is not only the group’s first electric car to be constructed on a platform exclusively dedicated to zero-emissions cars, with enormous advantages in terms of space, but it also lays the foundations for a range of 100% electric models that will arrive in the future”, Klaus Zyciora, head of design for the Volkswagen group, says. SUVs, crossovers, sedans, station wagons: the family of electric Volkswagens will preserve a large part of the stylistic canons inaugurated by the ID.3, as the recent ID.4 demonstrated.

“The common denominator will be a certain softness of volumes defined by lines that inspire affection right from the first glance. We shy away from any stylistically aggressive shape; we prefer a design that is absolutely modern and innovative, with few edges and abundant lines with a wide radius of curvature. There is a strong allusion to the past, to models that made Volkswagen’s history, such as the legendary Maggiolino”, Klaus Zyciora continues.

The ID. family will mean that Volkswagen has at least one electric car in every main market segment. The tight timeline was anticipated by a concept car for every production vehicle. The prototypes: ID. Roomz, ID. Buzz, ID. Vizzion, and ID. Space Vizzion demonstrate that, for Volkswagen, the future of mobility is 100% electric.
