At its annual results conference, BMW showed the first images of the i4, a zero-emission saloon which will also debut in the coming weeks in an M Performance sports version.

The images show just how close the production model is to the concept car of the same name unveiled around a year ago. “The design is dynamic, clean and elegant. In short: a perfect BMW that is also zero-emission,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design.

The car’s design follows BMW’s new stylistic direction, in particular the vertical development of the front grille, inaugurated for series production cars by the new 4 Series. Clean, soft lines and taut volumes merge into a rich sculpture with uniform contours. The BMW i4 will be available in several versions, all 100% electric, with a range of up to 590 kilometres and output of up to 390 kW (530 hp).
