The strongest inspiration for the Renault Scénic 4 (2016), for which Agneta Dahlgren was head of design, came from the R-Space concept car, presented in 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show. Outside as well as inside, the aim was to reconcile family use with sportiness, functionality and sensuality. The taut, not to say sculpted, lines, the honey-yellow hue and the cubic, modular volumes of the cabin remain in the public’s mind.
The same principles can be found on the production version of the Scénic 4. “Making a production car similar to a concept car is by no means easy. It wasn’t easy, but the result is there for all to see”, explains Agneta Dahlgren. The overall line has been made more dynamic by the revised proportions in both the short and long versions. The rear overhang has been shortened by 16 mm, the width increased by 20 mm and the height increased by 40 mm. To ensure that the wheel arches are as full as in a sports car, all Scénic 4 versions are fitted with 20-inch wheels with tall, narrow tyres.
