The new version of the legendary Morgan Three Wheeler is on its way. The official debut is scheduled for 2022, but the British manufacturer has offered a first glimpse of what the new shape of the model will look like by releasing some initial sketches created by the design team led by Jonathan Wells. The sketches also show the sources of inspiration the designers used to create the model.
The sketches show a flowing front end through the front wheels, which, as on the current generation, remain outside the body. “Morgans are often described as analogue cars, despite exhibiting industry-standard technologies. We believe that in a world of technology, keeping the mechanical elements of a model visible contributes to better design,” says Jonathan Wells.
Among the principles that guided the clearly aviation-inspired project is the communication of function through design, a hallmark also of previous generations of the Three Wheeler. The designers started with a highly aerodynamically efficient shell and then subtracted the two passenger seats. The British constructor announced that a number of accessories will also be available to personalise the car: “The new Three Wheeler will take on multiple identities to satisfy all requests”, concluded Wells.
