Since its launch in 2014, Ds has placed electrification at the heart of its strategy. The transition is accelerating: from 2024, every new car from the French brand will be 100% electric. To further the experimentation in zero-emission mobility and its components, Ds has developed the E-Tense Performance, the latest concept car from the French brand of the Stellantis Group. Designed by the design team led by Thierry Metroz, the car adopts a carbon fiber monocoque chassis with transmission adapted from a Formula E single-seater. The suspension geometry is able to ensure the best possible grip on the road, such as on often rough urban circuits, and in all weather conditions.
The front reveals a new “expressive” surface that replaces the classic air intake. Already suggested by Ds Aero Lounge, this technological detail combines the Ds logo with a three-dimensional effect and a special welcome sequence. To accompany the aerodynamic line, the bodywork introduces an interference color with scarab effect. Depending on the external conditions and the angle from which you look at it, the perception of the color changes and gives a contrasting effect with Gloss Black surfaces that extend to the hood. The 21-inch wheels introduce an aerodynamic profile with dedicated inserts.
The powertrain of the Ds E-Tense Performance consists of two electric motors that deliver a combined 600 kilowatts of power (250 kW at the front and 350 kW at the rear) corresponding to 815 hp and 8,000 Nm of torque at the wheels. Taken directly from Formula E, these two electric motors show peak efficiencies and efficiency. The concept car’s powertrain prioritizes the best use of energy. While, physically, the car maintains a braking system with discs and pads for safety, only the regeneration system is used for braking.
