Renault has unveiled the first image of a new hydrogen-powered concept car it will unveil next May. According to the statement, the prototype is the first concept car developed by Gilles Vidal since he joined Renault as head of design in November 2020. This concept car goes in the direction of the company’s recently announced goal of achieving a 100 percent electric energy mix by 2030, the French automaker writes in a press note.

The front end features elements of the R5 Prototype, the concept car unveiled in early 2021 that anticipates the next electric R5 production car coming in 2024. The car shows split-level headlights, two deep veins on the hood and, a first for Renault, digital mirrors. The design team also focused on the circular economy concept, using recyclable and recycled materials for both the exterior and interior.
