Lamborghini Squadra Corse has begun development work on its first LMDh hybrid prototype, which will debut in 2024 in the FIA World Endurance Championship (Hypercar class) and IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship (GTP class). Lamborghini has been competing at the top of GT motorsport since 2015, thanks to more than 40 titles and achievements such as a consecutive triple win in the GTD class at the 24 Hours of Daytona from 2018 to 2020.
The styling of the prototype was created by the brand’s design department led by Mitja Borkert. Now, with its commitment to the LMDh category, Lamborghini is accessing the highest levels of covered-wheel motorsports, with the opportunity to compete for overall victory in the world’s most prestigious endurance races, such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. The LMDh program is part of Lamborghini’s transition to hybrid technologies: in fact, by the end of 2024 the entire road range will be electrified.
