“We have always had a privileged relationship with design that is consistent with our strategy of combining the material’s functionality with extreme customisation”. Andrea Boragno, president and CEO of Alcantara S.p.A, describes the exhibition “Gli infiniti linguaggi dello stile” (The infinite languages of style) at the ADI Design Museum on the occasion of the design cocktail organised together with Auto&Design for Milan Design Week 2022. “We exhibit here some examples of infinite customisations all oriented to a high level of emotionality and, some of them, realised for brands, Italian and not, of the highest level,” Boragno continues.
The stylistic refinements are endless: prints, perforations, laser processing, foils and resins, embroideries, electro-welding, embossing, engravings and weaves as well as coupling with other precious materials. All combined with an inexhaustible palette of colours, often created ad hoc, and different thicknesses. “These are the elements that allow Alcantara to customise and give shape to customers’ desires. Customisation that Alcantara feels is part of its DNA and that has been translated into the creation of an in-house team capable of developing extreme customisations, combining complex technologies, to supply car manufacturers with the finished product, ready for upholstery,” Boragno points out.
Alcantara can thus be transformed into different colours, textures and workmanships with a recipe for style that combines creative suggestions, advanced technologies and craftsmanship. In the creative process that leads Alcantara to unveil its languages, the material undergoes the artistic contaminations of the other application sectors in which it operates – interior design, fashion, consumer electronics and art, in the sign of the transversal vocation that characterises it and allows it to unite different worlds.
