Paolo Martin is exhibiting by invitation (visitable by request) in Venice his “Visions In Design,” a series of more than 150 drawings and some models on display through July models at Ca’ Balbi Valier, overlooking the Grand Canal.
Why Venice of all places? “I was attracted as a boy salla pria of gondolas surmounted by an emblem that was indecipherable to me then and graphically perfect. That image was enough to awaken one of my passions: design,” says Paolo Martin.
“That is why I decided to exhibit my thoughts in graphic form in the heart of Venice, a city that represents excellence in craftsmanship and art, and that is enough for me to regain my enthusiasm for living.” The most important projects in Paolo Martin’s work are all there: the 1967 Dino Ferrari Berlinetta, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider proposed in 1963, the 1969 Lancia Beta Montecarlo.
There is no shortage of more extreme concepts such as the 1969 Abarth 2000 and those related to the industrial world such as the Modular Civil Tractor presented in Shanghai in 1985. Unmissable is the Ferrari Modulo, perhaps one of Martin’s best-known projects, and then boats with a strongly sporty characterization, bicycles, a section devoted to industrial design, watches, shoes, airplanes and motorcycles. In short, a unique opportunity for one of the Italian design geniuses in his entirety.
