Aion, a Gac Group brand, unveiled the Hyper SSR, China’s first fully electric super sports car, and launched the new ‘AI Arrow’ logo in the shape of an upward arrow symbolising growth and artificial integration in future mobility. “The introduction of the new logo and the all-new Hyper SSR is the realisation of the designers’ supercar dream and represents the breakthrough of Gac R&D Centre and the Aion brand in high-end electric cars,” said Fan Zhang, VP Design, GAC R&D. The car was designed at the Gac Advanced Design centre in Los Angeles, headed by Pontus Fontaeus.

The Hyper SSR’s proportions are unmistakably those of a pure and exciting sports car. The Hyper SSR is balanced and seems ready to dominate the asphalt beneath it even at the slightest touch of the accelerator. From the low front end to the prominent rear, the Hyper SSR has a distinct personality. The body is clean and flowing and incorporates the distinctive line called The Blade, found on other cars and concept cars of the brand. The clean treatment of the sheet metal is intentional, as it creates a distinctive contrast to the more technical aspects of the model.

The frameless ‘Sky’ doors offer a dramatic entrance every time you get in and out of the Hyper SSR, while the bodywork is made of high-strength carbon fibre using an aircraft-grade autoclave moulding process. The retractable active spoiler at the rear increases downforce to ensure vehicle stability at high speed and during sports driving, when extra traction is needed, while a particularly dramatic effect is provided by the play of LED lights as the driver approaches the vehicle.

The cockpit was created with inspiration from the world of aviation. Hence the exposed tubular structures that reach all the way to the car’s controls. In the pursuit of a certain minimalism, the designers have nevertheless left plenty of room for technology. The digital instrumentation has been moved up for an immediate and more direct view of the information on an 8.8-inch screen, while the rest of the functions are controlled from a large 14.6-inch high-resolution display. According to the statement, the Hyper SSR design was created to provide the user with a digital-first experience that was nevertheless highly emotional.
