Hyundai has unveiled the design of the Kona 2023, the next generation of the Korean brand’s compact crossover that now takes on a futuristic look in all its versions: petrol, hybrid or 100% electric. “With the unmistakable character of the model, the Kona expresses a confident, bold and dynamic presence. The car has evolved in every aspect to embrace an even wider range and thus become a true support for every lifestyle,” said SangYup Lee Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center.
The essential front end characterises the pure volume of the front section, which contributes to the smooth aerodynamic performance of the model. The essentiality of the volumes is emphasised by the horizontally developed Seamless Horizon Lamp light signature. In the electric variant, this takes up the “pixelated” motif characteristic of the Ioniq range in the Pixelated Seamless Horizon Lamp, which is a first for a Hyundai model and gives it a distinctive touch.
The cabin features a large living space and offers a variety of practical features and an evolved on-board experience to suit different lifestyles. The electrically-derived universal architecture displays a sporty layout with a floating horizontal element that emphasises its width, offering versatile space for the driver and passengers. The dual 12.3-inch display and floating module give a high-tech feel, while the lighting inside the cabin enhances the user experience and comfort. The gearstick control has been moved from the centre console to behind the steering wheel, offering a cleaner and tidier layout as well as ample additional storage space in the centre tunnel.
