Polestar opens its first pop-up space, a place where you can learn about the brand, at the Arctic Circle. The building is located in Rovaniemi, Finland, and was made entirely of snow and ice. It was designed by Polestar architects, while construction was entrusted to the Finnish company Frozen Innovation, which has created around 50 different snow and ice installations, including hotels and bars, over the past 15 years.

Polestar decided to call it Snow Space and its external dimensions are remarkable: 12x12x12 metres. Inside the cube, the ceiling was designed in the shape of a dome to make the construction more durable and improve air circulation. Polestar’s pop-up space was created to announce Artic Design Week, the world’s northernmost design festival, which takes place this year from 20 to 26 March.

On display inside the Snow Space are a number of Polestar 2s with wheels, suspension and brakes made of ice and designed by local artists using ice from Lake Lehtojärvi, just outside Rovaniemi. For the pop-up space, some 3,000 cubic metres of snow were brought in from the nearby Ounasvaara ski area, and at the end of February, Polestar will return the snow to the ski slopes.
