Lexus returns to Milan Design Week with a new installation by New York-based artist and architect Suchi Reddy. ‘Shaped by Air’ will be the centrepiece of her presence at the global celebration of international design. The occasion will also see the public presentation of prototypes created by the four winners of the Lexus Design Award 2023. Reddy has re-imagined his installation specifically for the context of his exhibition at Superstudio in Milan from 17 to 23 April.
The work presents a scaled interpretation of the Lexus Electrified Sport, modelled by light and with vibrant green leaf shapes that suggest movement through nature. For the Milan presentation, these shapes will be suspended from the ceiling like a sculpture, recalling the vehicle’s design forms and Henri Matisse’s cutouts. Reddy, founder of Reddymade Architecture and Design, was inspired by the curves and craftsmanship of the Lexus Electrified Sport coupe. She has produced an elegant, lightweight work of art that expresses the sustainability, innovation and design excellence that are fundamental to the Lexus brand ethos.
