Polestar has opened its new design studio in Gothenburg, Sweden, nestled in a dense forest adjacent to the brand’s global headquarters. The dedicated facility houses up to 120 design team members, led by Maximilian Missoni, in an environment that combines modernist architecture with the brand’s clean, minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic.

Created from a completed 1984 Volvo factory designed by Italian Romaldo Giurgola and Swedish architect Owe Svärd, the building has been completely renovated while maintaining its unique architectural character. Here, the Polestar Design team will continue to develop the brand’s new design language, anticipated by the Polestar Precept and Roadster concept cars and with the production version of the Polestar 3, launched in October 2022.

Materials and details from the original 1980s construction are combined with a modern, high-quality Scandinavian design by Maximilian Missoni. The new facility includes a specialised exhibition area, a clay workstation, a workshop for colours and materials, an auditorium and several spaces for digital studios, management offices, VR rooms and meeting rooms.
