It was held in Milan at Garage 21, the unveiling of the prototype Eccentrica, the “restomod” based on the Diablo of the 90s, which pays tribute to the legendary model of the Bull. This is the first product of the homonymous start-up based in San Marino, which aims to become one of the first international “restomod” companies. Never before had anyone thought of reinterpreting the Diablo, also for its legendary history, which entered the collective imagination thanks to films and videos of songs with great success. The “restomod” based on the Diablo signed Eccentrica required a careful design study with the aim of emphasizing the character and stylistic features of the original model, preserving its iconicity. In particular, the intervention of the BorromeodeSilva studio has enhanced the right balance between size and performance, taking inspiration from the very sporty Diablo GTR.
The body of the “donor car” has been totally revised, with the exception of the windshield which remains original. All other parts (bumpers, bonnets, sides and side skirts) have been replaced with new components, ensuring perfect integration and greater efficiency. All embellished with a series of captivating details, which will not go unnoticed by an expert eye and lover of Italian design. The proportions of the original car have been taken to the extreme to accentuate its aggressive aesthetics and handling and stability, as evidenced by the widened track both in the front and rear area. Length and height remain almost unchanged while the overhangs are shorter. The overall volume is conceived as a wedge set in a trapezoidal shape consisting of the front.
The entire front has been rationalized and cleaned. The large extractor takes inspiration from the Diablo GT while the wheel arches have been updated and integrated but retain Gandini’s iconic arched structure. The miniskirt has also been redesigned by inserting an aerodynamic fin. The window has been brought in continuity to integrate the B-pillar even better and create a single shape. Unchanged, however, the famous “butterfly” doors. The interiors of Eccentrica in Alcantara have been conceived as the meeting point between the minimalism of the early 90s and the mechanics elevated to the art typical of luxury watchmaking. With a clean and simple design, the steering wheel reflects the car’s overall philosophy of preserving the essence of the Diablo by adding an extra touch of refinement. The dashboard has been redesigned, updating its ergonomics and aesthetic appearance, as evidenced by the replacement of the plastic air conditioning vents with a thin and elegant slot, along the entire dashboard, which ensures an even distribution of ventilation contributing to the best well-being on board and travel comfort.
