Toyota presents the new Land Cruiser, a model on the market for over 70 years and become a true off-road legend all over the world. The Land Cruiser was born 72 years ago as “Toyota BJ”, on August 1, 1951. Soon after, it demonstrated its strength and capabilities by becoming the first vehicle to successfully reach Checkpoint 6 on the slopes of Mount Fuji. Since then, Toyota’s mission with Land Cruiser has been to provide people with a vehicle that will take them to their destination safely, even in the harshest environments.
The new Land Cruiser confirms the classic and reliable body-on-frame construction philosophy and follows the larger Land Cruiser 300 (not available in Western Europe) in adopting the GA-F platform. Tradition combines with modernity to create a timeless look that expresses the vehicle’s ability to face and withstand the most difficult driving conditions. The design also expresses the functional beauty of the best professional tools. The robust look expresses a return to the origins, but is also oriented towards practicality with a “form-follows-function” approach. Off-road performance is supported by shorter overhangs, sculpted corners and a narrower underbody, while several body parts have been designed for easy replacement in the event of damage.
In profile, the exterior design shows the classic Land Cruiser silhouette, with strong horizontal lines. The interior will be available in a five- or seven-seat configuration, with a design that evokes the strength and functionality of an authentic off-road vehicle.
